DEWY AFTER HIS BIG WIN " SELECT DOG"

Dewy

Birmingham Kennel Club awarded us Breeder of the Year for 2010 & 2011

2 year old Dewy came to live with us in March of 2009 as my 65th birthday present.  We had placed Aled, after he finished his championship, so we missed having a boy around and  when talking with Susan Strickland Dewy had come back to her and  was too close to her lines for her to hold onto him which was the reason we didn't need to hold onto Aled.

Dewy is the sweetest boy ever and as lovely to look at. My first shows with him were my own Birmingham Kennel club shows, the first weekend in April, and he was Winners Dog and Best of Winners two of the three days that weekend. The following weekend we went to Perry GA for the Greater Atlanta Specialty and I was thrilled when breeder judge Dianne Connolly pointed to us for Winners Dog out of a beautiful line up of lovely dogs. That was his first Major. As we went to England after Perry I didn't get to show him at any more shows until the end of the summer when we went up to Canfield Ohio. Dewy was then reserve to the

4 point major at the Specialty under Judy Hart

and then took the Major the following day under Carrie Chase.

Soon after we made trips To Atlanta where he took Best of Winners for two points under Mrs PW Neale and then to Hattiesburg Mississippi  where he went BOW to JR White .Then needing a single point to finish we stopped on the way to the National in Murphysboro Tennessee and he took the breed under Judge  Carmen Battaglia which finished his Championship.

He also made the cut in the Herding group.

From there we went to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi National in Fort Mitchell Kentucky where I was lucky to  find Ferebe Simons did not have anyone to show for the Best of Breed competition so she agreed to show Dewy for me and they kept making all the cuts all day until he finally won Best of Opposite Sex to the bitch that won Best of Breed. Such an Honour to get this Great Win and we are Greatfull to Susan Strickland for breeding this lovely boy and letting him come and live with us..

At the National Specialty with Ferebe Simons

Dewy also went to Westminster in New York February 2010 and was shown by Ferebe and made the cut so we were thrilled. It was a great experience.

Dewy on the Green Carpet at the Garden

On  March 18th Ferebe was able to show him at the Ohio Valley Specialty in Kentucky where he took the Honours of Best Of Breed.

A Big Thank You to Judge Terry Hanson.

Dewy has also done some obedience and finished his Rally Novice titles and his Rally Advanced titles as well. He will take a break from this for a while as he wants to sit to much when in the Breed ring.

Dewys first litters have been very successful. He was bred to Ch Honeyfox Sweet Tea, known as Tess, and we already have two girl Champions from that litter. Millie is owned by breeder Ruth Barker and Janet Robinson owns the second champion Julie. Ruth also owns brother Harry who needs a single point to finish his Championship and we had hoped to get him finished in 2011 but he will shortly in 2012. He had both majors at 9months and then blew all his coat.

My litter with Dewy to Deryn gave us the third Champion. Llyl is now known as  Ch Tresaith's Crimson Bounder and got her name as she was born during the Alabama Texas game Jan 7th 2010.Her mother Deryn's full name is Tresaith's Deryn, Heart of An Olympian  who has since been spade and living with Kathy and Ernie Martin in Wetumka Alabama, and a buddy for their other Tresaith corgi ,who was her Aunt Morgann.

We also bred Dewy to Morgann's daughter, Delia, Tresaiths Whatz the Deal, and kept a lovely little girl Bethan who was born August 26th 2011I am hoping to get her in the show ring this spring.

Dewy finished up in 2011 as a Bronze Grand Champion which I am pleased to say I did myself. He then went away with Ferebe Simons who got him 3/4 of the way to his Silver Grand Championship as he is now sitting on 175 points. He needs 200  points to become a Silver Grand Champion. Ferebe did a great job with him and he had several Group placements. Pictures to follow.
